Eloping is different than what it once was. It doesn’t necessarily mean running off on a whim and secretly getting married, though it certainly can. Eloping today can involve planning a wedding for a year, having a handful of guests in attendance, doing a ceremony in your own backyard or running off to some super secluded location. Basically an elopement by today’s standards is skipping the big wedding, large guest count, fancy decor, reception and not necessarily sticking to wedding tradition. It involves being with your person all day, reciting your vows in a private intimate setting and focusing more time on getting couple photos. Because again, the focus is less about the production of a wedding and more about the commitment the couple is making to one another.
